It is a growing phenomenon, that men in our post-feminist western world, travel abroad to find love. In our globalised world, even the non-traveler is exposed to a greater variety of women, nationalities, and cultures, than he would at any other time in history.
Exoticism, difference, mystique—all do powerful things to our imagination. And we, through the simple virtue of where we come from, offer something powerful to foreign women.
Opposites attract can fuel a dangerous pipe dream, though: When I finally get that delicious foreign feminine energy—that femininity free of the baggage I feel with my compatriot girls—all will be healed, and my woman grief will be over.
Her femininity, plus her foreignness, promise a powerful gift. But it’s easier than ever to mix up our exoticised fantasy of who our lover is, than to see them for who they truly are.
You cannot quickly fix your relationship challenges simply by going abroad. Once the honeymoon period has worn off, you will face two prickly things:
1. No matter if you’re in the depths of Brazil, surrounded by options… your own relationship patterns, closures, frustrations, traumas… will all still be in play.
2. What’s more, you will likely not see the deep and strong assumptions that she makes about you, your relationship, and how you should show up.
Femininity is femininity, and if you are graceful with women in one country, this way of being will translate around the world. Culture doesn’t supercede the power of attraction.
But our habits, expectations, and deepest needs and life visions… can provide tectonic grounds for conflict. A savvy man is always ready.

- Understanding cultural orientations in a deep way, so you can anticipate the biases of her thinking, feeling and values
- A man’s world: clarifying your status and power through a foreign culture’s eys, and how this influences hierarchy, equality, leadership, deference, in all your relationships (most western men have no idea about their default power/privilege)
- Identity, purpose, individualism and family: how deep unconscious images of our place in the world might ultimately tear your journey apart
- A woman’s world: the ‘enlightened western woman’, and the vital role you can play in her life
- Syncing harmoniously with your partner, when your sense of time and tradition are entirely different
- Leveraging and enjoying different communication patterns—direct vs indirect, clear vs subtle, embodied vs cerebral—for an international vocabulary of seduction
- The shifting sands of global gender roles, finding the leadership you both need, and building a ‘third paradigm’ in your relationship
- Displacement and homesickness: what to do when your needs don’t get met, and one of you grows unhappy

Relating Across Cultures is a brand-new, two-hour zoom Masterclass, hosted by Jordan Luke Collier.
Following a couple of brand-new lectures and some interactive group-work, I will open a wide space for discussion on the topic of relating across cultures… answering your questions, challenging you with my own, and exploring through conversation how you can overcome typical conflicts, appreciate the nuances of her character, and build a relationship that’s bigger than both of you.
Even though you’ll be on a webinar with many others, the fact that we are like minds, all gathered around one essential topic, means that you will pluck insights from everyone’s questions and answers — not just your own. Come prepared for a rich and a fast-paced time, and take plenty of notes. JORDAN LUKE COLLIER
Before I joined the Ars Amorata as a dating and relationship coach, I was a simultaneous interpreter (translating conferences and business meetings real-time, between English, Spanish and Portuguese). I had also trained in group facilitation and team-building. I was a burgeoning corporate coach and consultant. And I lived in Brazil’s metropolis, Sāo Paulo.
Coming of age in a time where gender roles and sexuality had become so… blurry… in my home-country, I took off around the world, believing love would be clearer, more healing, more available, elsewhere. Stints in Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Romania, the US, Thailand, The Netherlands, Indonesia, and another 80 countries besides, taught me a lifetime of knowledge about culture, rhythm, and expectations. My partner today is Russian, and forging a bond between my progressive western values and her traditional eastern ones has been, how should I say, interesting.
Interesting, but possible. And we’ve both grown a lot to able to make our partnership happen.
‘Wherever you go, there you are,’ the old adage claims. Even though I felt my options would open every time I traveled abroad, I’d soon discover that I brought my same old patterns with me. I learned it is vital to learn how to see women beyond our fantasies of them. I learned it is wise not to force someone into a wrong cultural fit. But beneath it all, I celebrate the sublime imagination, our erotic inheritance that makes all life worth living, to bathe in the energy of a beauty who will (and should) always be—despite our efforts and machinations—someone exotic, unfathomable, and always new.

Yes. We will convert the recording and the follow-up resources into a digital product, and make it available on the Ars Amorata store. The recording will be available to purchase for 180 days after the live event. The product recordings will be taken down on November 30th, 2022.
We are expecting some 50-60 people to join us for this webinar. So of course, not everyone can share. If you want to share, you can type your question into the Q&A box during the zoom call, or put your hand up. The moderator will choose the order of the audience questions/shares.
